Public DepositedWednesday, April 16, 1941 Clear/Rain [Headlines; Illinois State Register; War news] Drove to Springfield this morning taking Elise Paula & Rube Rosenfield. I was to testify before a committee of the House in reference to the Dooley Bill. When we reached Springfield at 12 oclock found from Marving Schmidt & Banks that the meeting would not be held. Walter Rosenfield took us over his office and we left Rube with Walter. At 230 Elise, Paula and I started for St Louis reaching there at 515. We left Paula at Jane & Karly, and went to the Mackays where we spent the night. 292 miles. George & Suzanne had Mr & Mrs Fred Russi Mr Rober Day, Wally McLanahan, and Fred & Zan Russi for dinner. Most enjoyable. Arp re elected mayor of Moline 6627 to 6379 for Oakleaf [Headlines:St. Louis Times; World news]
