Sunday, August 9, 1931 Rain Elise Jr. telephoned this morning about 1030 saying that the camps wre going to be quaranteened on account of infantile paralysis starting tomorrow. So we started Karl Paula Elise & I after an early dinner & drove to camp almost 100 miles reaching there at 330 P.M. Elise looks fine and from all reports is doing extremely well this year. Mother Gulick said Elise was a leader and that she had done exceptionally. She said the councillor last year was not the right one. Elise has won her Junior Life Saving badge. Billy is as brown as a berry and never looked so well in his life. He weighs 88 lbs. His councillor seems to be a fine fellow. He reports Billy very satisfactory. Bill was chosen captain of his cabin. Altogether we are much pleased with both. It is a very rainy day. We are staying at Bonnie Oaks. A really wonderful place. A delightful concert in evening. Dr Page the proprietor led the hymms. [Letterhead: BONNIE OAKS CAMP FAIRLEE, VT.]
