Monday, March 7, 1938 Reached Horicon at 9 and had a fine visit with [Signature:Theodore J. Erdman] [Stamp: VAN BRUNT MFG. CO. MAR 6 1938 EXPERIMENTAL DEPT.] Hyland was put charge of experimental work on March 1st and I wanted to talk to Theodore. He is relieved at the change and I was anxious to tell Fred Clauson that I hoped Theodore would be kept on the active roll, but be his own boss. Theodore said he would like to make one more visit to Germany and I said I would speak to Wiman & Clauson. I did and both agreed it was the thing for him to go. Charley Wiman arrived at noon and we were at the Clausons for lunch. Later Charley spoke to Erdman about going and I think he will take advantage of this opportunity. Found two much sand in cone gears. Arranged for painting them on rather Hyland did. Charley & I left from West Bend at 6 and reached Chicago at 9. I went to Charley's house and spent the rest of evening. Saw Pat who goes to [Ticket:Passenger's check Florida Thursday.
