Saturday, March 27, 1937 Clear This afternoon the Black hawk Hiking Club went to Lyndon 52 strong for maple sugar hike, which had been scheduled for the last two times but the lateness of the season prevented sap from running. Bill & I went Lee feeling too miserable because of her teeth and Elise wanting to stay with her. We had promised French toast & maple syrum so we made good this time. I don't know how many slices were toasted but every one had several, and all seemed to appreciate it greatly. Bill & I had to ruch home as Elise & I were invited to the Will Waterman's for dinner. Almost too strenous a day. [Newspaper article: Black Hawk Hikers....]
