WEDNESDAY, Jan. 19, 1927 19 Met Zimmerman & [Zercle?] on train going to Champaign. Gave my talk before 700 or 800 people in the Auditorium. Saw 4 row Farmall cultivator Single trussed pipe in front and short pipe beam rigs with one and two shovels [small drawing]. In rear were 3 rig beams for centers of rows. This made 3 levers to control all rigs. There is no flexibility. 12 4 row planters were put out last year. Two planters are coupled together the [rods?] shafts having very large universal joint arms to prevent lost motion. It was found necessary to have various spring pressures tension on [post ?] depending on length of row. They said cross [can't read, ticket stub covers text] [Passenger's Check: Chicago to Moline]
