Thursday, April 11, 1940 700 Went to Philatelic Agency. I had Roger Greene for breakfast at his hotel the Washington. I walked around taking colored pictures of the White House, Pan American Building and the orchids in the Pan American Bldg. Walked from station to the Allies Inn where I met Mabel Preston. Saw the orchids again and then we went to the Dept of Agriculture where we got Paul. We went to Herzogs restaurant on the water front. Fitst had 9 oysters opened at an oyster bar and then shad roe ~ It was wonderful. Later we all went back to the Agricultural Bldg where there are Paul is Chief-Division of General Service AAM 7000 office workers. Paul has charge of 150 or more people having to do with him and saw R.B. Gray, Humphries & McCroy. They all feel mechanical elevation is a good thing to try for getting sileage into silos. Stayed with Mabel & Paul till train time. The cherry blossoms are just about out and I can see how beautiful the sight will be. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Every one hopes that the Allies can keep Germany from conquering Norway.
