THURSDAY SEPT. 8 1949 This morning Elise, Mabel & Chandler Bullock and Eleanor Allen went with me to Bedford New Hampshire to see Goffe's Mill which George Woodbury had rebuilt and about which he had written a book. We drove thru Leominster, Townsend, Milford Amherst to Bedford. Mr Woodbury had gone to Lexington for the day but we found Mrs Woodbury at home. She took us over the mill where George Woodbury makes furniture which he makes fro lumber he cuts himself. I bought a stool for 500 and took some pictures of the mill At Amherst we found Johnny Cake Farm The Duane Wallacks [Drawing: Woodburywood stool] (Nonnie Mitchel) but no one home It is some place, swimming pool etc. We had lunch at Thayer Haven in Mt Vernon. Then at Peterborough spent quite a timea t the Goyetts Museum, meeting both Major and Mrs Goyette. Charlie Morse took Elise and me to Mrs Montgomerys for dinner.
