warm Tuesday, April 8, 1941 Clear [Headlines: Illinois State Journal;World news] Drove to Springfield this morning taking Marvin Schmidt with me. There was to be a committee meeting of the Senate to pass on the Dooley Safety device. In Springfield we were joined by [Signature: F.H. Harrison] of I.H.C. and Bob Banks. We saw Martin Lohman chairman of committee to consider this Dooley bill. e told us it was a crazy bill and all Dooley wanted was a handout and he would kill the bill. Frank Harrison drove back to Moline with me. Saw plowing for first time day. It is first warm day.
