Many many flowers. The house was filled. Marjorie bore up wonderfully -- In afternoon we all went to Princeton for a picnic lunch and called on Peabody's Later called on Marjorie and Ruth --- [Passenger's check: Worcester to Chicago] [Newspaper clipping: Philip N. Curtis] [Headlines: Evening Gazette] Sunday, November 24, 1940 [Headlines: Cleveland Plain Dealer] All day on the train we reached Chicago at 445 and left for Moline on the 505 Rocket reaching home at 8 in the evening. I read 351 pages of Kenneth Roberts new novel "Oliver Wiswell" out loud to Elise. I'm Thankful we made the trip, but it was a sad one for me as Phil seems just like a brother--
