MONDAY 279 October 6 Cloudy Heard from Percy today thanking me for the book. He seems much pleased with it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ His letter is as follows. "When the package came I knew there was something really worth while in it, but I did not anticipate any suchstartle as I got when I looked over the old pictures. It was mighty nice of you to do it and both Betty and I thoroughly appreciate it. We have shown them to practically all our friends that have been to the house and they think the funniest one of the lot is the snap shot taken at Cottage City. The peculiar part of it is that they recognize all of you except me and even Betty said who is that with us and where are you" The ones of Betsey at Lordvale are extremely interesting and I had forgotten all about the lamb, but that picture brings back a great many recollections. When we got the lamb at first it was a nice playful little lamb, but the children used to get down on their knees and butt it and before the summer was through it was not safe for any one to stand around in the lamb's visinity, who had grown considerably, because when the lamb saw anybody he would charge on them and we had a couple of people knocked down who were standing on the lawn
