It is the first showing of the idea of a manure spreader with a beater on the axle. From this drawing madewhile I was at the RichardsonMfg. Co Worcester a spreader was build. Floyd Todd became interested and as aresult the patent was sold toDeere Co. for fifty thousand dollars. It was too mostly responsible for my coming to Deere Co. Designing and building this spreader at Deere Co. wererugged years to start with as many troubles and weaknesses developed. Fortunately we overcame the difficulties and the spreader became an outstanding success. Several hundred thousand spreaders were built over a period of 25 years.
