Snow Thursday, February 8, 1940 Elise and I went to Chicago this morning on the early Rocket. Elise got off at Englewood and went to the DayNurserySchool to see Lee. Later in afternoon the two went to Field's where I met them at 4:15. We came home on the Rocket and had the drawing room so it was as easy a trip as possible and Elise did not get too tired. At meeting of Tire and Tractor men at the Palmer House, 23 present. McCormick Adams, Sperry, Lavers, Davies, Streklow, Eggan, tractor engines. R.S.Wilson Vice President Good Year. and many others. In a 5 hour session decided to cut out and drop over 40 sizes from a total of about 140-- Some others were questioned and left for later consideration. It is hoped that tire sizes for tractors can run in increments of 4" dia. This is for future development. On Feb 29 it is proposed to have a meeting to considerManure spreader & combine tires. R.S. Wilson told me he would give me a prize on airformes 2nd mattress. He said if possible on implements use 5.50" x 16" 4 ply 6.00" x 16" 4 ply tires as these 6.50" x 16" 4 plyare standard 7.00" x 16" 4 ply automobile sizes
