MONDAY55 81° February 24 Clear Reached San Antonioat645 AM. Met Charlie Wiman at Plaza. In field all day with Wiman, McCray, McCormick, Head, Liggett, Hackett, Whites, Dort, Davis, Ineglide. Tried new 6' hose G.P. both wide tread & standard they pull 1300 high 2250 intermediate 3150 max low. It worked pretty well. In afternoon worked with deflection meter. Found or rather proved that transportation & turning is hardest service of chain housing. Showed draw bar does not help much if any. Farmall all deflects too. At a meeting in evening present Wiman, Head, Davis, White, McCray & McCormick it was decided that the Tractor Co would send down 200 sets of chain housings & quills and have 8 or 10 men here who would work with the dealersmen to replace the old housings & quills. And to do thisas the trouble comes. It is thought and it will be decided at Moline that all of the 119 tractors with light housings & quills should be changed by October next. It will be impossible to change all tractors before cultivators & planters are used and braces for both planter & cultivator must be furnished immediately for this season, but for this season only. The tractor co agree to have tractor strong enough next year so this will not be necessary. We must also device a brace for standard G.P. McCray, Head came to Brownsville with me. [Passenger's Check: San Antonio to Brownsville, Tex.]
