Public DepositedSunday, May 12, 1940 HOT TODAY Church in morning with 2 Elises and Bill Cade. The four of us went to the Outing Club as guests of Elise's mother. Elise & I took her mother for a ride around Davenport. Bill Cade left at 7P.M. with Bill Brandt to drive to Chicago. Uncomfotably warm today, Elise minds it a lot for she does not feel any where nearly up to scratch. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The war news comes thru and we all listen to everything we can hear but the news is too indefinate to be at all reassuring. Both sides claim much but the Germans claim most. Germans have been dropping soldiers dressed as ministers and old women behind the lines in Holland. It is hard to keep sane.
