Wenesday, February 21, 1940 We reached Wichita early and were at the Tractor Show before 8 o'clock. Montgomery Ward showed tractor (General made by Cletrac) 4Ford tractor shown with plow, lister, & field cultivator. Ford is making 200 tractors a day. So far not so many are inusers hands and it is difficult to picturethis as a very practical tractor for us a cultivator it is nothing. But time will tell -- AllisChambers had nothing new except an integral 2 way plow. IHC made [can't read] side for small combine and had slow movies showing how the treading worked. Oliver had new 2 way power lift,& power lift lister. Kranick said Clausen was not willing to recognizeourpatents and the rest wantedto so Ed Bopf& I both said we would have to file suit if they did not as we could notkeepface with IHC and others if we did not do something. Talked to Harry Davis about safety and also Frank Harrison. HowardMurphy (Sears [Roebuck) saidSims had gone to Montgomery Ward and had the job of locating 100 retail implement stores. Murphy said he went to Deahorn nearly every week. Ford a few weeks ago was making 115 tractors a day. He knows [Jen?] sales manager Sherman Ferguson Co. B.F.
